Oregon Department of Education

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) was an active part of the WISE Initiative from 2009-2014 having achieved key milestones in partnership with a coalition of strategic stakeholders.  It is currently a WISE Legacy Site.  Oregon played a critical role in the early years of WISE by demonstrating how to leverage a range of supports including a state policy that requries CSE to be taught in all elementary and secondary schools; an Oregon Youth Sexual Health Plan; and a cadre of experienced trainers (from Healthy Kids Learn Better) with a robust teacher and administrator training initaitive that addressed mapping and alignment, standards, formation of School Health Advisory Councils (SHACs), school district policy adoption, and CSE curriculum selection and implementation.
