Cardea (Legacy Partner)

WISE Washington, led by Cardea, was an active part of the WISE Initiative from 2009-2017. It is currently a WISE Legacy Site. Prior to participating in WISE, Cardea played a key role in advocating for the passage of the 2007 Healthy Youth Act that requires Washington State school districts that provide sex education to offer medically accurate and comprehensive instruction.  Following passage of this legislation, Cardea supported its implementation statewide by assisting districts with policy review, training, and curriculum selection.  WISE Washington also developed the Capacity Assessment and Planning Tool (CAPT) which is now utilized in all of the WISE sites as a way to collect baseline information about current district policies and practices, as well as assess district readiness to advance an improved program.
