WISE Washington, led by Cardea, was an active part of the WISE Initiative from 2009-2017. It is currently a WISE Legacy Site. Cardea played a key role in the passage of the 2007 Healthy Youth Act that requires Washington State school districts that provide sex education to offer medically accurate and comprehensive instruction. Upon passage of this legislation, Cardea went on to support its implementation statewide supporting local policy adoption, training, curriculum selection as well as cross-leveraging of various related efforts statewide. WISE Washington also developed the Capacity Assessment and Planning Tool (CAPT) which is now utilized in all of the WISE sites to provide baseline information about current district policies and practices.
